Why I’m Passionate About Counseling for First Responders (and Why It Matters)
As a therapist, I’ve had the honor of working with some of the bravest people out there—first responders. I’m talking about police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics who show up for others in their darkest moments. But I’ve also seen the emotional cost that kind of work can take.
What I’ve Learned from Listening to First Responders
Over the years, I’ve heard a common thread from the first responders I work with. They tell me they’re exhausted. Worn thin. Struggling with things like nightmares, anxiety, irritability, and burnout—but often feeling like they have to “suck it up” and keep going.
I get it. There’s still a stigma in this culture around asking for help. But that doesn’t make the pain go away. That’s why I offer specialized counseling for first responders—because I believe support should meet you where you’re at.
Why I Use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
One of the most effective tools I use in my practice is something called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). If you’ve experienced trauma on the job, ART helps your brain process those memories quickly—without having to talk through every graphic detail.
Clients often tell me how relieved they are after just a few sessions. They feel lighter. Calmer. Like they can breathe again.
And honestly? Watching that transformation is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Therapy That Understands Your World
I don’t just “listen”—I understand the unique pressures of your work. I use a trauma-informed approach that’s tailored to the fast-paced, high-stakes world of first responders. We’ll talk strategy—how to cope with stress in the moment, how to come down after a shift, how to reconnect with yourself and the people you love.
This isn’t one-size-fits-all therapy. It’s real support that’s built around your life.
Making Support Accessible
I know how unpredictable your schedule can be. That’s why I offer online therapy sessions and flexible appointment times when needed. Mental health care should be easy to access—not one more thing on your already-full plate.
